Ok, so I had a wild hair

I decided to throw some old Van Halen in the MP3 and start thinking of what my favorite things were and post them on my blog. I've got a few... they are going to appear on the bottom of the blog... I think I'll try to add a few things every day... just to see if anyone is paying attention...maybe a favorite song.. artist, piece of clothing, food... what a fun way to create little nuggets of the real here and now of me. :)

THIS is PURE greatness

for ANY MOM... ANY mom can totally appreciate this woman...

click on the Momsense video clip, turn on those speakers, sit back and let her just tell it like it is...

this cracked me UP! I love it!

Official Reports

I don't know about you but I get so sick and tired of every incident having to have a full investigation and then a report that does nothing more than point fingers at everyone else.

Point in case, Virginia Tech. Yes, there was a homicidal maniac on the loose on campus. Yes, people died. Yes, it's tragic. Yes, they didn't "connect all the dots." ... yadda yadda yadda... so they do an investigation timeline and discover that things should have been handled more expeditiously -- well, cna't they always? I could use their expertise in handling my "lets get out the door by 7:35 a.m." routine apparently.

Can't ANYONE just say.. you know what, the guy was a nut.. he was deranged.. he had a mission and there's nothing you could have done to stop him short of just ASSUME he was a mental case and then act on that assumption... but then think of the flack people would have taken for THAT (ASSUMING)! I shudder at the thought of what political correctness has done to the world. They all want to cry out he's "sick" he needs "help"... sometimes, I just think some people are beyond help. Look at the loonies for 9/11. Everyone pointing their fingers at Bush... ??? like what the heck did he have to do with it... that's like .... you install an upgrade on your computer for Internet Explorer and it causes your computer to crash so YOU blame Bill Gates for the probem. I mean, give me a break. If people would get off their soap boxes and DO SOMETHING about the problems rather than sit around and belly ache about them... imagine what a great world we'd live in! :) Hard to believe we really need a news channel 24/7. And the bits they choose as lead stories, sometime just blow me away (at how stupid they are). I wish that for every 1 negative story they told, they had to tell 3 positive ones. I used to think being a news anchor would be such a cool job but now that I really have had a chance to look at it... would you really want to be the one responsible for passing along nothing but negativity all day?

I think this is just another case of when it's your time to go, it really just is...so you need to live your life to the fullest now... and be at peace with your enemy... and make your life right NOW, not tomorrow becuase you never know when it really is.

Dealing with the inevitable

Drew's waking up at 6:45 a.m. or earlier each day.

He spent from 11:00 a.m. on calmly, quietly and exhaustedly watching Power Rangers and asking for a binkie -- which isn't a good sign he's going to last very long. Me wanting to go to a Southern Living at Home party that starts at noon just wasn't going to fly. Man and I so wanted to go. :(

When I went to put him to bed, it INEVITABLE that whatever stuffed animal he brought down at 6:30 in the morning, he's going to ask for and I will not have remembered to bring it back upstairs. My knees, hips, old body can't take up/down of the stairs like these little tikes can -- just downright ticks me off getting old! It's for the birds I tell ya!

And this kid, too, has the binkie recollections of an elephant. Mind you, he has about 6 that he sleeps with... but whatever one is MISSING of those 6... he will inevitably ask for it. MADDENING! Sorry, Drew, mommy didn't know where Mickey Mouse was and if I find him, TRUST ME... he'll be put back in your bed!

Got some work to do... :) Just thought I'd share.

First Day of School

Wow, the time flies (not fast enough sometimes) but last night from the time I went to sleep to the time the alarm went off -- YES the time FLEW. Yee GADS that was early to get up at 6:20. Yuck. I don't like that at all. I'm not a morning person, I'm not an evening person. I think I'm just a -- you get how I am at the time it is -- person. :)

Josh was excited too because when I went to wake him up, he was already awake and getting dressed. He was very excited to see who all was in his class. He wasn't too thrilled that I made him wear a button-up, collared shirt on his first day either. BUT I had to take some pictures and really didn't care to see him in a sleeveless Nike sport thing. Look at him though, ain't he a handsome one? :) Of course, my opinions are completely biased. But WHO CARES! Ha ha ha!

After I picked him up, he said he had a great day. That was pretty much it.

Meeting new moms

I joined the MOPS group at NorthWood Church -- where I think is going to be our new church home -- and attended their new mom's tea today. It was really nice. I love that the coordinator, Angela, arranged the tables so that you were surrounded by moms of children that are your children's ages so that you will be facing similar issues together. I hope to make some new friends and get plugged into the church a little more.

They also have, from what I've been told, an AWESOME preschool program HOWEVER...when I heard that their 3 year olds didn't take naps... I just had to say no. :) I wouldn't WISH my 3 year old on ANYONE if he hadn't had a nap. That would just be all KINDS of ugly. So, back to Noah's Ark this year for us...and frankly, I'm glad about it.

When we initially checked Drew in, he was less than thrilled at the thought of being left in a strange place with strange kids BUT when I showed up to pick him up, he just squealed with delight, "mommy's here" and grabbed his drink and diaper bag and my hand... he proceeded to walk down the hall with me hand in hand telling me about his fun adventures: he played trucks, he played trains, and he made a new friend -- yes, my 3 year old told me he made a new friend. :) How heartwarming is that? I wish everyone could get along so well. He said he had a good time and when I asked if he wanted to come back, he was so excited.

Halloween costumes for boys...

really suck. I just got the flier in the mail for The Disney Store. The cover shot is little Cinderella in her "glass" slippers and little tiara... and then you open it up to have text on page two... and someone from pirates of the caribbean on page 3 -- now tell me how many kids size 4 to 6 would you really let SEE a movie like that? Seriously? I'd not let my 3 year old watch that... ??? so I don't see how they'd want to be a character they can't really RELATE to.

Page 4 -- sleeping beauty
Page 5 -- ariel
Page 6 -- Belle
Page 7 -- Jasmine
Page 8 -- Snow White
Page 9 -- Tinker Bell
Page 10 and 11 are for boys... Buzz and Lightning McQueen... but they're just not as cool as the other ones... then they have peter pan and captain hook (lame) and the power rangers. You pay $40 for a leotard and then have to buy the "weapon set" for another $15. It's insane...but I know that's what Drew will want to do ... he's SO into the Power Rangers. We shall see. I got him a new Power Rangers toy motorcycle when we were buying a birthday present for another kid's party (just so he'd have something in his arms to carry and then would leave everything else ALONE -- that was worth the $8 or $9 for the toy!) and Josh sat next to it...and he FLIPPED OUT! He is SO possessive of his Power Rangers. Well, he's just a stingy butt all together...but especially about his COOL toys like that! :)

Josh is at the age where I don't get to pick what he is anymore -- he does .. hope it's something cool like Zorro..that'd be neat.

I had a productive day driving in circles. :) Got the boys' pictures picked up from JC Penney (finally) -- surprised they haven't faded from being there so long. I got the rest of the pouches to make the name badges for the mom's league. I went to Joann's for their scrapbooking sale (40% off a LOT) and looked at some fabric samples for curtains... DUDE some of that stuff was like $42 a YARD. How INSANE is THAT?! I don't get it... I just don't. I cant seem to locate wher eyou can get the little mini curtain rods either. I need to find some that are like 10" long... maybe a foot. We shall see... I am so not the decorator I wish I was!

Mama Roo

I love the little things that Drew says.... and how he says them... it's the little nuggets of baby that still remain that I just cling to...

we were watching Pooh's Heffalump Movie -- Drew LOVES this movie... and the little purple heffalump (elephant) in it named Lumpy. We have three lumpies - one for school, one for home, one for car. Right now, all three are in the bed with him. He has to have his entire plush entourage with him at all times... he's quite the stickler. And if one is missing -- he knows! Let me tell you!

If something is too big, too small, doesn't fit, looks weird -- he will jsut tell you that "it too big"

if something is akward or he doesn't want to carry it he will tell you that it's "too heh-bee (heavy)" Love this one...

His big thing right now is the word "poop"... he will make up this entirely unintelligble story and end it with the word poop and then burst into laughter. I think he really thinks he's making complete sense but it's complete nonsense... but it keeps him entertained so generally I reply with an "oh really... you're so silly"

If you change him out of diapers into underwear he'll tell you "no can pee in there -- there's NO PEE"

:)

If I think of others, I'll post them but for now, that's all folks!

Meet the Teacher

Tonight was meet the teacher at Josh's school. He has Mrs. Holland. She is tall and very pretty. His friend Jack is in his class and their desks are together (for now) I know they won't stay that way. Ha! Hard to believe he's going to be in SECOND grade. Wow... seems like just yesterday he was going to kindergarten and I was "holding it together" until I left and cried all the way home in the car. Such a big boy. I didn't even have to buy him any school clothes with all the freebies he's gotten... I took him to the Gap and got him a pair of black Chuck Taylors (talk about cool!) :)

Drew wasn't up for being at meet the teacher so we were pretty much in and out like a flash... which is good because there wasn't that much room for a stroller in those crowded hallways. Man what a nightmare!

Any-who. :) So... two days... school days are here again!

A Cooking We Will Go

Josh went to a cooking class today at The Dinner Station up the street. We got there and did a little experiment about germs... learned about nutrition... did an experiment with bananas and sprite to show how you need to chew your food well so it can absorb into your stomach lining. We learned how to properly set a table and then we learned about the different types of measuring (teaspoons, tablespoons and cups)

Then we went to make the kit to do dinner -- he measured out all the ingredients for spaghetti and meatballs... then made a dirt cake -- complete with two gummy worms. :) The spaghetti was pretty darn good! :) When we got home, we let the hamburger defrost so we could make the meatballs later before we left for the Cub Scout ice cream social at the pool.

He rolled meatballs, helped set the table, cleaned up... impressive! :) What a big boy. Yes, I should take pictures more ... i just suck lately, I know! :) But I have the memories. :) Ha!

Shh... do you hear it? (since 14th)

No, me either... the only sound is the sound of silence.

It's that going back to school have to get the kids in bed early time again and I loooooooooooooooove it! Aaahhh... sweet sweet silence. No tv, no Waah Waah Wubzie no Dora, no Diego, no Pinkie Dinkie Doo, no Little Einsteins, no Tigger and Pooh, no Disney Channel period... nothing but the sighs of my little dog, Lola crashed behind me in the arm chair with her head hanging over the side because she still thinks she's 8" long.

I was completely paranoid that I'd be unable to have Drew in school because they are supposed to be 100% potty trained but since that fateful day when he pood in the potty, we had a major break thru---thanks to Fun Dips [a.k.a. kiddie crack] (I swear they were called Lick a maids (isn't that a little perverted?) when we were kids). He just loves those and as far as I'm concerned, his teeth can rot out b/c he'll get some new ones right?! Ha!

Went to a Pack Leaders meeting on Wednesday. This was fun. We are gearing up for the big registration rally. I hope we get some great new Tiger dens and leaders. I've been making fliers for various things and looking over the website and updating as I could. www.pack317.org. I'm not real good with the html thing but hey, I guess it's all a learning curve. As long as I know a little more than my kids, I think I'll always be doing okay. (ha) guess that doesn't say much right now since they're 8 and 3! hee hee

Thursday, I had my Once Upon A Family party. Had about half the turnout I expected (life happens -- I TOTALLY understand that) but it was still so fun and I know what I want AND I have some great wine leftover and some YUM-O dip left over to boot!

Friday I took Josh for an overnighter with the Pack at the Ballpark in Arlington -- or whatever it's called now. Why do they allow people to give some place naming rights. That's such a dumb idea because you have to reprint everything all the time. It should always be called The Ballpark in Arlington. Kind of like renaming major highways because of a high bidder, that's just dumb. It's a fixture, it's a freakin BALL PARK. Call it that! Got that Mr. Hicks?! It was pretty fun. Same deal as his birthday party but it's good to do things with the other Pack Admin members so that our boys can get to know one another.

Saturday after we got home was the CIRCUS! We made it to our seats right as they started singing the national anthem. Drew was in awe over the sights and sounds and he was FIXATED on the baby elephant. Long gone is the reason for being able to say "you run this place like a 3 ring circus" because it's not 3 rings anymore. That was rather disappointing so instead of having to do 3 things at once and such, it's just one big show. At the end of the first act they shot confetti into the air and I swear that was all Drew wantd to do for the rest of the time -- pick confetti off the people in front of us and off the floor. Josh wanted cotton candy, Drew wanted popcorn and we were all happy... Then Drew sampled the popcorn... he kept trying to hold it and I kept telling him to let ME feed you so that your fingers dont get sticky, he looked like a bird -- kept saying "it so yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuummy" Then we get to the bottom of the bag -- there are like 5 hand towellettes in the bottom of the bag! He could have fed it to himself. I think one of the neatest acts was the dirtbikes in the metal sphere -- i have no clue how they do that... freakin CRAZY. That and the horses and trick riding. I just love horses. They had some lady come out and do an act that was WAY too long with trained cats (like... not tigers... HOUSE CATS) I'm like... dude... we didn't pay $45 a ticket to watch Morris go through a hoop... give me a BREAK! After it was done, we hit the toy cart and Drew got a stuffed elephant and Josh got two plush baby tigers -- at first thought it was appropriate for Drew then I was thinking -- good LORD we don't need any more STUFFED ANIMALS! I just got rid of THREE GARBAGE BAGS FULL of them. Guess we are starting over with a new herd.

Today the balance was paid for the trip to Disney World... WOO HOO!!!! I'm so excited. I've got so much other stuff going on though, that it's hard to think -- I NEED TO PLAN THAT TOO! Ha! Reservations are made for two different character experiences at meals...that should be fun. Other than that... wing it!

So, I guess that's the update for now. Whew. Before bed tonight, I need to finalize a Scout flyer to have copies made tomorrow.

Josh's meet the teacher is on Thursday. How exciting. Back to school, new clothes, new school supplies, new this, new that, new back packs (wow, I didn't get him one other than the little sling type one I got him from Canton for $5 that has Texas Tech on it). I figure he will need one huh... especially when the weather gets cooler becasue he'll need somethign to shove his jackets in. Guess I shoudl have looked for one of those today. Bummer. I did take him to The Gap to get some new shoes -- blck Chuck Taylors! He's so cool. I swear I need to get him some checkered Vans too! He's got plenty of warm weather clothes - the kid has more shirts than I do... pathetic isn't it? Since it's still in the 90s I jsut felt stupid buying cool weather clothes when it's just not cool. I can shop for that anytime. So, today, we hit The Gap, went to eat at Cici's Pizza for lunch and went to Hallmark to get him a new Webkinz. We can't figure out his password, username and the secret code just don't work on his old one so we threw in the towel and got him a new one.

Tomorrow is one of Drew's last gymnastics classes (starting preschool so Tuesdays will be out and all the other classes are full) I'd love to get them both in horseback riding lessons... :) Heck, we should all 3 do that.. how fun!

La la la... off to work!

This was shared with me by a friend. I was moved and given goosebumps on my goosebumps. I hope that you will watch and then come back and leave a comment and let me know how it impacted you. Good stuff, had to share.

The Eagle Has Landed

Ha ha...doesn't that sound so official. I think right now I'm so tired I don't even know what I'm talking about (and I promise, it's not an Ambien induced tired... I'm just plum tuckered out!)

The last two days have been spent moving furniture, taking down curtains, rods, blinds, up and down and up and down the ladder because I've been painting. Why I decided to start painting my living room red mere days before a party, I have NO idea...but I did. And here's what it looked like mid-way through -- after the first coat. It hadn't had the blue painter's tape removed yet or any touch ups done, nor had it had a second coat. This is just a work in progress photo.

Then I had to get my sweet little man to take a picture of me for my design team bio... thank God for Photoshop! Because he's not the best photographer and I am not the most photogenic person. I actually hate having my picture taken.

Here is the results of one of those... I felt like SUCH a freakin dork!

OH...and we had BIG BIG News today -- saving the best for last. My baby pooped in the toilet ALL BY HIMSELF! I was just about to beam rays of sunshine from here to Antarctica. Without prodding, without reminder, he was upstairs in the playroom all alone (watching a movie and doing a puzzle). I kept hearing stuff banging around in the bathroom... he came down stairs and got in the candy drawer to bring me the Fun Dip to "open it" ... I was like... NO, you have to poop on the toilet to get one of these and he goes -- I DID poop on toilet. And he HAD! :) I was SO proud.... here's what a happy big boy looks like after being rewarded for doing it...he of COURSE got sugar! :) THIS is what a happy boy looks like when he "got it"

This is aiming up to be a big BUSY week.... I need to finish this room completely by tomorrorow morning... tomorrow afternoon grab a quick lunch, gotta go pick up a months worth of food from Saving Dinner in Southlake (Love this place -- big plug and two thumbs up). Tonight I also need to go to a Cub Scout Leader meeting. After that, I am going to go out with a few of my late nighters that want to go hang out at the Main Event on a girls night out... that'd fun. I think i deserve it at the very least for all this STUFF I've been busy doing this past week!! Agreed? Inded!!.. I've also gotta go to the grocery store for my party on Thursday... gotta get wine for the girls! :)

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanyways... So I have a few things to do. No biggie. :) Friday night Josh and I are supposed to stay the night at the Ball Park in Arlington for a Cub Scout thing. Been there -- done that (that's what I had done for Josh's birthday) but am sure it'll be much more fun this time b/c I'll be bringing my own food. Nothing like your last "meal" being cracker jacks and pop rocks at 11:30 so that's until Saturday am when we get to come back take a nap and wake up top go see the CIRCUS@$!$!@ woo hoo... I hope Drew doesn' freak out like I think he will! LOL

and it'd beyond time for me to realize I should not be writing anymore... So, I bid you farewell.

DIE is the first word in DIET!

I don't think anyone that has had "trouble" (using that term loosely here) with their weight ever THINKS they'll have trouble with their weight. I know I was a size 4/6 my entire life until I had children. Oh the joys/pains of motherhood. I hate those people that are genetically inclined to NOT have stretchmarks on their abdomens but, not many people are 5'2" and carry a 10 lb baby.... UGH.

I went down, went up, went down, broke bones in my toes (stress fractures), went up... went down... granted, it's always about 10-15 lbs up or down... right now I need to lose about 10 lbs to be 100% happy... that's not that big of a deal...but I have a love affair with Central Market cupcakes and vanilla ice cream. Why are the good things SO BAD?! There is an evil little person on my shoulder saying -- OH go ahead, you can start back tomorrow... then my willpower kicks in (usually) saying... you have control.

Like today, I went to get the ice cream out of the freezer (stressful day) and, like I said, ice cream is like CRACK! MMMMMmmm... LOL... and I got out a bowl and a spoon and the Hershey's... and it was too hard for me to spoon out of the tub. I just looked up and said, "Thanks" (to God) because to me, that was a sign. I don't believe in lots of things...but I do believe in signs. So, today is the first day that I'm back on track. Tomorrow I hope to wake up and start walking in the mornings before it gets up to 100 degrees and I can actually get a shower and be motivated knowing that I did my hour walk... I just need to tone up... I can do it. It'd be easier to have a weight loss buddy but I knwo I can do it. I've odne it before.

I joined WW online again. I like their point tracking system. Thank GOD for Applebee's. There's a site I love www.dwlz.com (Dottie's Weight Loss Zone) and she has point values listed for most restaurants/dishes on this site. It's amazing, astonishing and aggravating all in one. For instance, one of my FAVORITE restaurants of ALL TIME -- Macaroni Grill -- my favorite dish, pasta milano is 25.5 points -- to give you a point of reference (no pun intended), I'm allowed NINETEEN points a day! Arbys, their market fresh chicken salad sandwich - 18 points Oh the tragedy!

So, hopefully, this time, once I'm down, I will also be tone... and it'll stay there.

Personally, I like being a 6/8. I know I'll never be a 4 again and I'm okay with that. But I can't bring myself to buy any pants larger than a 10 (now)... i hate that it just depends on who makes them as to what size they are. My dockers shorts are a 10 and they fit great. I have some that are 12 that I bought post baby just so I had some nice shorts to wear and they fit on my hips and are very comfy but too baggy through-out the rise but still... they work. Now my 8's are a little tight... which is why I've been really good today. :) And plan on it...even though I'm attending not ONE but TWO birthday parties tomorrow -- Lord, GIVE ME STRENGTH! :)

I Should Have Been A Polar Bear...

You know, I don't know

(what a weird way to start ANYTHING).. you know, I don't know... ha ha

It seems that unless you're some pencil thin model born with the gift of being genetically enhanced or one of those women that just "forgets" to eat (whatever THAT means) or one of those eating-disorder-types (well, they ARE out there) or a gym rat (who has time)... summertime is just NOT your friend.

I love winter. I love the cold I love seeing frost on the ground. I love seeing my breath outside and wearing my favorite winter hats. I love big fuzzy warm snuggly sweaters. I love getting undressed at the end of the day and slipping into my flannel pajamas, my fleece socks and my fuzzy red floor length fleece robe. I love making stews and drinking hot chocolate with my kids. I love seeing the colors change and being in the cool mountain air. I love wearing jeans.

I hate being hot and dripping with sweat by just WALKING outside to get the newspaper or the mail. The stagnant heat in the garage you feel while waiting for the car to cool off from the initial internal temperature of 150 THOUSAND degrees...

Ugh... hate it... just thot I'd rant.... does it do any good? Naah... does it make any difference? of course not... but at least you know how I feel and that's all I got to say about that! So, simply stated, I shoulda been a polar bear.

Ebb and Flow and being Under the Influence

I am an inconsolable insomniac... it wasn't until this year that I was learning that it really WASN'T normal to have so many thoughts that you just couldn't hit the pause button in your mind long enough to go to freakin sleep. It literally was it's own form of bondage, insanity and entrapment. You're bonded by the bed... you need to be there and know your existence outside that safe haven will mean you're making "noise" that will wake up the boys in the house... no one wants grumpy testosterone producers... especially if they're over 3. LOL... the Under 3 I can deal with but darnit if I'm just fresh out of those... so you can't really get up and do laundry, run the vacuum, rearrange furniture, etc. without wakin up the little men of the house. And that's just rude, so I shouldn't, so I don't, but then I'd be LAYING there hoping that the brief respite I just obtained was somewhat longer than the 3 minute one I just had 11 minutes before thinking that it'd actually been at least 80 minutes...looking at the clock... no... yes... maybe...Oh yes. ... I'd temporarily slept about 16 minutes... I was almost excited but ??? now what was I to do for all the REST of the night. It became this vicious never-ending cycle of "I want to sleep dag nabbit!" so along comes Ambien CR. Yes, it's a hypnotic... yes' you do and say some crazy @%#( on it... but once you feel that first wave hit... you know to go to bed... the weirdness is upon you. Unfortunately, that's the time -- most times -- that I feel the need to write ... be it blog, journal, thank you notes, you name it... I'm wanting to share the love with everyone has... no NEEDS to hear whatever it is that I'm spewing out. It's pretty ridiculous... why yes, I've already taken them tonight before I finish this entry... so good luck -- did you get your April Decoder Ring on? :) Heh Maybe I should revive the doors... I could write some pretty "out there" lyrics too... just gotta find me a band to indulge my temporary insanity. ;) because I swear in the a.m. I'm completely lucid and you'd never know what even talking about. It's just humorous and I know it all means GO TO SLEEP..but I just fight it (like now). :)

I guess it's the ebb and flow of an insomniac's life... trying to not need medication.... and then dealing with them when you are on them.

The other big news for tonight -- my handsome prince is home. He had abou 4-5 gate changes the instant he landed but whoo hoo...he called and got us hooked up with the right gate... I was trying to "pump Drew up" so that when he saw Josh he would just flip and when he did see him, it was SO precious and so spontaneous... he screamed "DOSH" and ran full throttle and just enbraced him with a big, tackling hug. He missed his dosh. He was so excited and he took his rolly bag from him so that he wouldn't have to pull it himself. I was so excited to see my big boy... just gave him a big hug...noticed the uneven burr his dad gave him (grrrrrrr)... got his bags and headed to the Rainforest Cafe. This was a treat for both of the b/c Josh loves the place, I have the distraction of the... entire JUNGLE for my 3 year old... and it's loud so if he starts reallllllyy getting whiney... it just he blends in with the noise! I need something like that for my house! But Josh is home... it was so great to hear that silly little giggle he has...

got home, wayyyy late for Drew ... wanted to rock a little. .. Josh loved his playroom (border up)... loved his desk and computer in his own room... :) it'll be a great treat for him ...and he gets to sleep in tomorrow. :)

Goodnight my little man, welcome home!

Worst Mom Award

Oh GEEZ I think I should get the "Worst Mom of the Year" award today. I was trying to finish my lunch while working on the computer. Drew was watching Home On The Range. I had to get up to pee... did so ... and he got up and did the same thing....leaving a PUDDLE in the FLOOR behind the couch... THEN pooped too! He's potty training I might add -- that's so stupid to call it that... you're not training them to potty, they already KNOW how to do that... but I totall flipped out and blue a freakin gasket on him. I'm SO SICK OF CLEANING UP POOP in his underwear. He KNOWS what he's doing... and that just pisses me off to no end. Yes, I blew a gasket, had to give him a bath, mop the floor, wash clothes on HOT b/c crap was everywhere...

I did humbly apologize and tell him why I was so angry -- like he can understand. It's times like this when I really don't feel like I do a good job at the "mom" thing after all and am just grateful I don't have any other kids to screw up.

I've got 4 weeks to have him completely traind or he won't get to go to pre-school. Did you hear the click of the psycho ward unlocking? Yes, I will go freakin psycho if I do NOT get a break from him...we equally drive each other nuts THere's only so many Dr. Seuss books, puzzles, playdoh, painting, crafts, outdoor sweat sessions that one person can endure in a week's time and having those two precious breaks are necessary for me to work, and for my sanity.

I'm having a mommy melt down right now... :( He's taking a nap now... doesn't make any of this go away but I still needed to vent. Especially because you can't just ASK him to go to the bathroom... he'll tell you NO that he doesn't need to and then go right in front of him. I hate that. I hate that I have to ask him every 10 minutes... I set the kitchen timer for every hour on the hour to go sit on the toilet. He has ZERO desire to poop on the toilet... he just wants to crap in his pants... what in the world am I going to do?

I'm ready to send him off to Poop Boot Camp.. let someone else deal with this and send him home a reformed boy! GRRRrrrr...

Forgive me Father for I have sinned.... please help me be nice to my children.... this is the very reason other animals in nature eat their young.

Whew it's Sunday

My life is about to hit full throttle with Cub Scouts starting up, the Mom's League Craft Club starting up, my CTMH meetings getting scheduled, school activities, sports activities, sanity planning and home renovations... just to name the few that are on the top of my head at the present time. I've been updating my calendar (and now my new Palm (I LOVE being a gadget freak).. I have a Palm and an MP3 player.. I feel like I finally caught up to the 21st century finally. My next to investments... portable digital camera and a portable digital camcorder. What fun are making those little movie clips if you can't share them on the internet with everyone?!

Friday I dropped Drew off at my mom's and headed to every shopper and bartain hunter's paradise - First Monday Trade Days in Canton. I LOVE IT THERE! :)

I came home with a 3' chicken strapped in the passenger side seat of my car. I swear, if there had been a carpool lane, I could have taken it! :) My house is large with high ceilings so you really DO have to buy over-sized accessories so that they're not lost in the space. I got two pieces of pottery, some flavored vinegar to make my cucumbers that I love. They're like CRACK! You season cucumbers and/or tomatoes with this cilantro/basil vinegar overnight...mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmercy! I ALWAYS buy some cinnamon/sugar roasted almonds and/or pecans (I got both! Ha!) Normally I'd stay there a LONG time but it was SO STINKING HOT... I drank and drank and drank (fluids, not alcohol!) and then realized that it was just too freakin hot. So, opting for the a/c in my car, I called my mom to let her know I was packed up and headed to pick up my little man.

He made it all day Thursday, Friday and Saturday DRY! No pee accidents and only one poop accident (he doesn't like to poop in the toilet). I am telling you though that I need divine intervention and a prayer warrior team to pray for this little man. He HAS TO BE POTTY TRAINED to be admitted to school. I have three weeks... and counting and my sanity is dependent upon him being IN SCHOOL! So if you DO believe... pray for the potty!!! :) Thanks! :)

I finalized my guest list for my Once Upon A Family party. I am SO excited about this. Not that it's something I couldn't do all on my own but WHY BOTHER when they have SUCH cute products! Check out Denise's website: http://www.onceuponafamiliy.com/denise and if you buy anything, let her know you heard about it from me. They have family/faith based activities and programs that are designed to help your family reconnect. I just absolutely adore their style, programs and goal.

Oh, and when I got home on Saturday, I had THREE BOXES of goodies on the porch waiting for me. My new king sized bed skirt (it's BOO-t-ful!!), my new adhesive gun (I am SO excited to get this because face it, those little clickers that I've been using are not only noisy but they're annoying) and some books I'd ordered from Heritage Builders (Focus on the Family kind of thing). :)

I've been working on my MOPS newsletter, trying to plan my Cub Scout year and today I've been taping the ceiling.

Just for the record -- taping off walls so you can paint SUCKS! I actually feel like my fingers have been jammed. (Ever played basketball -- you know what I mean) It's really hard work. I don't think you ever really appreciate or respect what people do for a living until you've spent time in their shoes. And frankly, I don't know WHY anyone would WANT to do this for a living. Painting sucks. I'm such an I.G.G. (Instant gratification girl) and so having to do this in stages... BITES!

Since I'm painting a color that really needs a darker base wall, you have to prime the walls before you paint. I'm painting red so I'm priming grey first. This means I also have to tape off all the outlets, fixtures, ceiling, baseboards, crown molding, fire place area, shelves, yadda yadda yadda. I swear it looks like someone just blew up with the painter's tape in my family room. What's worse, I'm a freakin OCD neat nick I have to LEAVE it up until I can get it all done but the ladder just got brought in today... basically everything IS done (from 6' down LOL). It's only finished as high as I can reach with the roller without a ladder.. pretty stupid I know but I really didn't want Drew crawling up the ladder if I had to run to the restroom or something and I hate toting it in and out all the time. I've got one more gallon of the primer and I just PRAY that it does the trick... next is finding some striped material to do some panels and then a little fringy valance on the top... :) Something to soften up the big wall of windows. I know that it will all come together this week... I'm just ready NOW because I'm sick of painting.

OH... more good news. Josh comes home on WEDNESDAY!!! WOO HOO! I'm so excited. My life will be complete again! :)

My latest favorite Drew-isms...

heh-bee (this is what he uses for the word heavy when he wants you to carry it for him. "Momma carry dis, it too heh-bee."

Another thing he did that was so funny today. I was sitting on my bathroom floor while he peed in his little potty -- he THINKS he can stand up to do this -- is this like a right-of-passage like little girls and make-up? I keep making him turn around and sit down. When you CAN control it... then you can stand up. So SIT! So he gets done and turns around and stands on his head with his hiney in the air so I can see he actually did pee. He dumps the pot out and rinses it... pulls up his drawers (although I call 'em britches) and then walks over to me and very seriously looks me in the eye and tells me not to hit the dogs, that it's not nice. ?? WTH? I have NO clue where that came from other than as soon as he walked out of the bathroom, he picked up his fireman's axe (pretend, black plastic) and proceeded to chase them around the room. We had lots of fun together today.

I'm starting to ramble... OH...but I have to give two thumbs up to a GREAT cookbook. I bought it a while ago... it's basically a comfort-food cookbook but it's a QUICK and EASY comfort food cookbook. I made these two little strip steaks that had a dry Italian rub on them... (garlic, oregano, pepper, basil)... in a skillet you cook in 2 Tbsp of olive oil and you only turn them once. Turn again and then remove from heat. Once you remove them... put in the skillet some beef broth and balsalmic vinegar and butter... let it reduce by half and then pour it over the steaks... OH my GOSH... yum-O! :) I felt like Rachel Ray! :) It was a good thing tonight! Ha!

Where's my ice cream?! lol... too late for that.

Update on friends and prayer requests: got a txt message from Mark Irwin today... he's back from Japan...said the first thing he did was go straight to McDonalds and eat a greasy piece of meat. (I just replied back that I bet he felt tall over there. HA!) -- Prayer request for Sheridan -- she's doing amazingly well. Still very confused and dealing with the loss of the baby. they believe the blood clots are all clearing up. --Prayer request for my dad... he made it back safe and sound from New Mexico.

As if I don't have enough on my plate... I think Drew and I are going to start doing a Meals on Wheels delivery. :) I think it's a great way to give back at least a little something and I just love old people and sometimes they just need a friend to talk to... Hell, I FEEL old... may as well surround myself with some good people then right?! :)

And don't you just love getting hate mail? :) I got a piece of it tonight. I love making new friends... especially when they have only heard one side of a story. Drama... I dont buy into it. Thanks for sending it though. I'll pray for you.
