Five Question Friday

Rules for Five Question Friday: Copy and paste the following questions to your blog post, answer them, then link up to My Little Life (below)!

1. Do you know how to play a musical instrument? You know, when I was younger, I had an organ in my room. You know the old 70s models that were as big as a freakin piano! Yeah, one of those. I'd sit in there for hours writing "stuff" and learning to play from the books we had. But I couldn't tell you anything about it now. So, while I may at one time have been able to tickle the ivories, my "gut" tells me a big H to the double LL NO! (But I sure wish I did.) My son, Josh, takes guitar lessons. I've always said I will learn to play guitar before I turn 35. Since I'm 37, that goal was obviously was obviously not meant to be. So, now the goal is to learn before I'm 40. I think I'll have Josh teach me. That way I know I'm getting my money's worth!

2. What is your pet peeve while driving? I just can't stand the arrogance and rudeness people exhibit while hiding behind the wheel. Like, you SEE the stupid sign saying "LANE ENDS ONE MILE" and yet, you still speed ahead and then FORCE your way into the lane. I mean, would you just show up at a grocery store line to check out and then force yourself into the line because you found you didn't want to wait at the end or get in line when you could? Of course not! So why in the hell do you hide behind the anonymity of being in a car? How does that give you the right to do that NOW is beyond me.

3. Would you rather have a housekeeper or unlimited spa services? Anyone that knows me knows that's a NO BRAINER! A housekeeper. Hands down. I'm not a "spa girl." I don't enjoy having strangers touch me. I don't get masks, manis and pedis. I don't do microderm abrasion or Botox. I don't want hot rocks on my back or weird people I don't know touching my body. It creeps me out.

4. Is there a song that you hear that will take you back to the moment, like a junior high or high school dance? LOTS! I'm a very musical person. I don't necessarily associate particular songs with certain moments, more like "eras." We didn't have dances in junior high. Only one -- an 8th grade dance. Do I remember a single song from it? Heck no. LOL. I never went to homecoming... thought it was stupid to have a dance for a football game. I'm not all traditional like that. I don't get all caught up in the hoopla.... I'm more like..??? Yeah, so what. I think making these exorbitant "mums" for a dance that jingle and drag and make you trip and that weigh 40 pounds loaded full of crap made in China that probably has more toxins in the ribbon dye and trinkets than all of Home Depot... is just ridiculous.

5. What song best represents your life right now? OOOoh that's a good one! I think probably, "You're Gonna Miss This" by Trace Adkins is the one that comes to mind.Watch here

And, here are the lyrics....

She was staring out that window, of that SUV
Complaining, saying I can't
wait to turn 18
She said I'll make my own money, and I'll make my own rules
Mamma put the car in park out there in front of the school
Then she
kissed her head and said I was just like you

You're gonna miss this
You're gonna want this back
You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by
so fast
These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may
not know it now
But you're gonna miss this

Before she knows it she's
a brand new bride
In a one-bedroom apartment, and her daddy stops by
He
tells her It's a nice place
She says It'll do for now
Starts talking
about babies and buying a house
Daddy shakes his head and says Baby just
slow down

'Cause You're gonna miss this
You're gonna want this back
You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast
These are some good
times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you're
gonna miss this

Five years later there's a plumber workin' on the water
heater
Dog's barkin', phone's ringin'
One kid's cryin', one kid's
screamin'
She keeps apologizin'
He says they don't bother me
I've
got 2 babies of my own
One's 36, one's 23
Huh, it's hard to believe

But you're gonna miss this
You're gonna want this back
You're
gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast
These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you're gonna
miss this
You're gonna miss this
Yeah, you're gonna miss this

I think about this song because it reminds me...

...that time with these little people I'm honored to raise is fleeting.

...that the moments that I make big mountains out of are such molehills.

...that the things that really matter are matters of the heart and I have no doubts they'll "get it." Who really cares about a pair of dirty socks left on the floor again. When those boys are gone... they're gone. They're not coming back... so soak it all in while you can.... because you will miss it.

Another one I really like is Heart to Hearty by Toby Keith... check that one out. :)

  1. I love that Trace song! It's so true .. don't sweat the small stuff .. enjoy the moments! and .. I'm soo with you on the spa thing. Ugh, I don't even like my face being touched by anyone!I have done the mani and pedi .. but now the pedi's have been minimumized .. I don't like the scraping .. my feet are a mess because I am so tough with my running feet!

Thanks for taking the time to show some love. I had to turn the comment moderation back on for the asshats that feel it necessary to spam blogs. Sorry for the interruption.
