Life is a pop test

It's Sunday.  You know what that means!  It's time for Sunday Stealing!  Link up today here.

Have you ever clicked on an ad on the side of your screen by accident?:  Yes. I seem to do it quite frequently when I'm haphazardly multi-tasking.

When was the last time you were disappointed?:  This morning, when I had to wake up.  Disappointment is apparently a daily occurrence.

Do you like the smell of rain?:  Absolutely love it.  Crave it.  Indulge in it.

What was the last thing you took a picture of?:  My breakfast casserole.  I think.  It could have been Josh holding Lola.  Check out my Instagram...see for yourself!  Ha!

When you go to McDonald's, what drink do you usually get?:  I don't.

What were you doing today at 2:15 in the afternoon?:  Blogging, reading, cleaning up the kitchen.  One of those three... I'm not certain.

What's the nickname of your home state?:  The Lone Star State.  Pretty original, no?

What's the worst type of weather in your opinion?:  Extreme heat with no rain in sight.  Drought conditions that last for weeks at a time with temperatures soaring over the century mark.

Do you have a Kindle, Nook, iPad or none?:  Yes.  I own a Kindle Fire.  It's awesome.

Would you rather read or write?:  I don't believe you can do one without the others.  So this question is irrelevant to me.

When was the last time someone took a picture of you?:  No idea.  I'm typically behind the lens.

Do you own a pair of slippers?:  You betcha!  They're not glass, however.  How in the world they could design an entire fairy tale about a slipper made of GLASS is crazy.  Have you SEEN how girls walk in heels?  That thing would have shattered and left her with a bloody stub... what WERE they thinking?  Make that baby out of leather... and encrust it with diamonds!  Now THAT'd be a shoe!

These are my kind of slippers, however

Name something negative that you hate about yourself:  I hate that I'm so negative about my body... I need to embrace that it's a work in project.  I just really don't like it... yet.

Is your house currently hot, cold or just right?:  Just right.

Is there a Dead End road near where you live?:  Yes, I live on a cul de sac.  That is sort of a dead-end.  Why is "Dead End" capitalized?  I'd really like to know.

Do you roll your eyes often?:  Yes.  Like, just now... when I read that.

Growing up, did you see your cousins often?:  Yes!  I love my cousin, Laura.  She's  more like a sister to me, however.  Love her to pieces!

Where was your first job at?:   You ended a sentence with a preposition!!! You're really after my heart aren't ya?  Grrrrr.... My first job was working for my grandmother in her ceramic shop.  If you're referring to employment outside being paid "under the table" then my first job was at Colter's BBQ in Irving, TX off of Hwy. 183.

When's your birthday?:  December 20.  Yes, it sucks.

Is life a party to you?:  No. Some days it's more like a slow, painful, agonizing statistics class with a foreign teacher whom you can't remotely understand. . . with a pop test tomorrow . . . and ten pages of notes to review. . . written in Cyrillic. . . after you've completed a 1,000 word essay on the proper protocol for attending an Amish wedding out of season.

Who are you tired of seeing in the news a lot?  I have grown tired of anything dealing with the Zimmerman case.  I have remained completely silent about it because frankly, I wasn't there.  I wasn't part of the prosecution, defense or jury.  I have to resolve that our judicial system is the best there is and that we have to trust in the process.  Sure, there ARE instances where justice was flawed (OJ walking away, perhaps) but Jessie Jackson and his group of race baiters need to back the hell away and try to promote a unified country rather than a racially divided one.

When was the last time you flew a kite?:  April 26 at our Cub Scout Pack's campout by the lake.  It was perfect and fun!

How long have you had a blog?:  Look to the right and you'll see for yourself.  Several years.

Have you ever had to call and complain about a product you bought?:  Yes, of course.  I believe that if you don't provide feedback -- both positive and negative -- companies aren't able to improve upon their manufacturing and such.

“I know this case has elicited strong passions. And in the wake of the verdict, I know those passions may be running even higher. But we are a nation of laws, and a jury has spoken.” That was Barack Obama on the verdict. With all due respect, that didn't inspire me to riot in the streets.

As an old (50+) white woman, I find the gun laws very disturbing. A strange man can follow me home, down my own street, after dark in the rain, which would most definitely frighten and intimidate me and, apparently, I have no recourse. Not even my hands. I welcome Holder and Obama leading the debate about these laws. If that's not the job of the President and Attorney General, who's job is it? After all, it's MY ground to stand, too, and I'm happy to know that my government hears me. I don't think that the only way to unify us is to pretend that everything is OK when it's not. I can respect the jury's verdict but now hope someone changes the law.

Now I know this is your blog and your opinion is the only one that counts here. After all, I have my own blog where I can post my opinions. So if you choose to delete this comment, I completely understand. I mean no disrespect. I guess that you write so conversationally I just feel like I know you.

The biggest problem we are dealing with is that our country is NOT alright. Somehow we have to make it right. Women are going to have to do it because too many men are not interested in equality.
