Sunday Stealing

Welcome back to Sunday Stealing which originated on WTIT: The Blog authored by Bud Weiser. Here we will steal all types of memes from every corner of the blogosphere. Our promise to you is that we will work hard to find the most interesting and intelligent memes. You may have heard of the expression, “honor amongst thieves”. In that age-old tradition, we also have our rules. First, we always credit the blog that we stole it from and we will “fess up” to the blog owner where we stole the meme. We also provide a link to the victim's post. (It's our way of saying "Thanks!") We do sometimes edit the original meme, usually to make it more relevant to our global players, to challenge our players, sometimes to select that meme's best questions, or simply to make it less repetitive from either this new meme or recently asked questions from a prior featured meme. Let's go!!!

Today we ripped off a blogger and one of our players named Kwizgiver from the blog What if this is as good as it gets. It's 33 questions, we did edit it to make the right amount of questions. She states that she got it from Bev. But, it was probably stolen there as well. So, of course, that will be as far as we go. Tracing back our theft's thieves might take some time. Take the time to comment on other player's posts. It's a great way to make new friends! Link back to us at Sunday Stealing!

1. Where was your profile picture taken?  My profile photo was taken in my car.  Pretty fancy, huh?

2. Name someone who made you laugh today.  Benjamin made me laugh today.  I was wondering why in the world his monitor was completely silent so I went upstairs to check... he had turned it off and was laying in the floor by the door trying to look underneath to see when someone was coming to get him apparently.

3. Do you believe exes can be friends?  Sure.  My parents are.  Do I feel the need to be?  Notsomuch.

4. How do you feel about Dr Pepper?  I think that Dr. Pepper is a syrupy sweet concoction that coats your mouth with nastiness.  In other words, I don't like it.  Not one bit. Bleh!

5. Who was the last person you took a picture of?  I'm sure it was Benji... or my dog, Lola.  Zombie robot eyes atop all the pillows.  That was her.

6. Are you upset about anything?  Upset, no...

7. Do you think relationships are ever really worth it?  It depends on whom the relationship is with and what the issues are.  If someone is an abuser... then NO, it's not.  If someone continually puts you last, NO, I do not.  If you're nothing more than a permanent roommate... then no, no it's not.  I think many times people just become so complacent and are satisfied with the predictable and the status quo that they truly forget why they're in the relationship to begin with.  Just because you're in a relationship is no excuse to lose the passion, romance and fun.  I will not forsake my happiness for someone else's.  I am important.  I deserve to be happy.  And merely "sustaining" is NOT "living."  There are menial moments in every person's life but living a menial life because you're afraid to put your life down... is a life for cowards.  Life is meant to be lived, savored, experienced, and have every one of your senses tantalized on a regular basis.

8. Are you a bad influence?  Absolutely.

9. Night out or night in?  Depends on the company I keep.

10. Has anyone ever called you perfect before?  Perfect, yes...but they obviously have an absolutely skewed perception of reality.  I am more likely to be called a perfectIONIST -- and that, is true!

11. What song is stuck in your head?  Whoop There It Is.... Benji is singing it.

12. Someone knocks on your window at 2:00 a.m., who do you want it to be?  Someone hoping for a lead -based breakfast...

13. Do you smile a lot?  :)  Yes, even when I type. :)

December ADVENTures - in Movies!

Ho Ho Ho!  Christmas will be here before you know it and so instead of being a Grinch, embrace the season and all its fun by making tons of memories with your kiddos!

How do you plan a fun adventure under all this holiday stress?  Simple... do what I do... plan for it!  Oh, and I should note that it really needs to be planned THIS WEEK!  This will help your stress level stay LOW and your spirits SOARING!

Get yourself a blank December calendar... like can be found here.  Plug in all the dates that you already have commitments for... such as if you have an annual family dinner every Friday before Christmas, by all means plug that in first so that you can plan a lighter and easier activity for that day.  Also, if you have children in sports -- I believe this is basketball season -- get those games plugged in as well.

Find your local activities and jot down those dates.  Things you're looking for are... tree lightings, Christmas caroling, shows, live shows, movie releases, etc.  Here in North Texas, we have a city (Grapevine) that has declared itself "the" Christmas Capitol of Texas and they have lots of activities there.  You also want to note any parades, or truly special events you don't want to miss. There are always things to do.  Trust me!  Now, knowing what you have to work around... it's easier to plan your days out for the weeks ahead.

Each day you will PLAN  to view a movie, complete an activity together, read a book, focus on a letter of the alphabet (for those with little ones like me), and address part of the 12 days of Christmas as it parallels to the Bible.  The important thing here is to PLAN.  You can always deviate from the plan but at least HAVE a plan.

How in the world will I find all that nonsense?  No worries, I've got it all here for you!

So, first things first -- MOVIES!

Obviously, you'll need a list of movies to watch.  I have a Christmas movie collection that is awesome because... well, I love Christmas movies!  However, if you don't, have no fear!  Set your DVR to record them and you're ready to go!  Don't have a DVR?  Borrow the movies from the library, your friends, family or, hey -- go start your own collection now!  And, if all else fails, visit this site and download the schedule for ABC's Family 25 Days of Christmas that they showcase the classics every year!

So, what movies do we watch?  When should we schedule them?  That's entirely up to you.  I have a tradition in my home, however, that we watch certain shows on certain days.  But, I'm ridiculously anal like that.  For instance, Christmas Eve -- every year we watch The Polar Express and we READ Twas the Night Before Christmas.

And, since we're talking about movies today -- here is the list of movies to add to your rotation and/or collection!  Our Christmas movies that have made the cut:

Mickey's Once Upon A Christmas (Disney Gold Classic Collection) Movie Poster

Disney's Oz, The Great and PowefulDisney's Oz, The Great and Poweful

but there are ALWAYS others you may want to add to your list.... such as...

Jack Frost which we don't watch because it's sad about the boy's dad being dead...

I don't really like this one... it just wasn't happy enough to make my cut.
We own this one but it kind of freaked out the boys and scared Drew a little so until he's a little older, it's not making the cut.

The Search For Santa Paws This one looks adorable but I've never seen it!  I think that may change this year!

The Nightmare Before Christmas (Two-Disc Collector's Edition) Personally, I do watch this one -- usually by myself -- because it's just AWESOME!

... and OBVIOUSLY this isn't intended for children so it's definitely not on the list.

Tomorrow, we will address our favorite Christmas books.  I think the magic of Christmas is completely kept alive in the words we read that fill our hearts.... and minds before bedtime.

Getting in the spirit!  Yes, I am!

Day 23:  Black Friday

...and so that brings us to TODAY.  One month from Christmas Eve -- GASP!  Today I'm thankful for GAMERS!

If you don't know what that word is, you either do not have a teenage boy in your home... or a boy in your home at all for that matter... or have never been around college-aged boys... or grown men.... because at some point I do believe all men have been gamers to some degree.

Gamers... those who sloth on the couch fondling controllers as if their very lives depended upon it.

Gamers are men who will go without food and water because they can't simple put it down.

They will lose all track of time because they are tunnel visioned into the zone.

They will stalk the stores and go wait in line for the next version of their game to come out... release night is a big deal.

They talk about it... breathe it.. live it... and some, even die by it!

I am only thankful for them because I, you see, am not one.  I don't speak "game" and I can't tell you a Wii U from a PS3.  I am thankful because I have a son who IS a gamer.  I'm not sure he can be engaged in a conversation without having to bring up Minecraft at some point.  Anyway, Mr. Drew asked for something for Christmas and I had NO IDEA what he's talking about.  So, what does any lucid and resourceful mom do about that?  Why take it to Facebook!  Duh!  Within mere seconds, I have my answers from either gamers or parents of gamers.  We seek to help one another out!  This parenting gig has a huge support group if you embrace it!  I've learned that.

Anyway, as I said, I am by no means a gamer.  I am "old school."  When I say "old school," my friends, I mean ONE controller with ONE button and/or a joystick.  The controllers today are something akin to the space shuttle controls and require far too much time to master just how to manipulate your character than I'm willing to devote so this technology is completely wasted on me.

I think, however, that some of these kids really spend TOO MUCH TIME PLAYING GAMES.  Their moms and dads are happy because they're engaged and therefore not being bothered for entertainment.  Some 18 year old died after spending 40 hours -- FORTY HOURS playing Diablo III at an interet cafe... then there was the 20 year old who died of a blood clot lodging in his lungs after playing 12 straight hours of Halo on the XBOX.

I think, too, the internet has led to the dumbing down of gamers because instead of learning the levels and playing the games, they surf, find the cheat codes and BAM they've got everything -- instant gratification without working for any of it.  Don't think this type of behavior doesn't carry over into society!

And then, there are the superdorks who -- let's just admit it -- we all know at least one -- that could be swapped for the mancandy below.

However, love 'em or hate 'em... they're here to stay -- and thankfully help those of use with better things to do.
