Sunday Stealing

Today we ripped off a blogger named Sally Swift from the blog Stories From A Life. She does not state where she found the meme. But, it was probably stolen there as well. So, of course, that will be as far as we go. Tracing back our theft's thieves might take some time. Link back to us at Sunday Stealing

Sunday Stealing: The Triple Threat Meme

1. Three names you go by, other than your given name:  Mom, Baby, Mommy  (Funny, that says "Baby Momma"  I promise, none of that going on here.)

3.  Three things you like about yourself: My eyes; My thirst for knowledge; My mad organizational and management skills

4.  Three things you don't like about yourself: My work in progress fitness life; My perfectionism (see the picture below -- I TOTALLY did that when I was a kid!); My arthritis

5.  Three parts of your heritage:  Indian (you'd never know by my lack of a tan); Irish (probably where the red highlights in my hair comes from); and honestly I'd have to dig out the genealogy to see from where else my family arrived.

6.  Three things you are wearing right now: Mickey Mouse fleece pants; grey sweat shirt and worn out slippers that need to be replaced.  (I want some of these now!)
7. Three favorite bands/musical artists: I don't play favorites!  I like too many...and frankly, who really cares!

8. Three favorite songs: I honestly, I don't play favorites, but there are two that no matter what comes on the radio or cycle through my mp3 player's playlist, I'll stop and listen, sing along and enjoy it!  "Smile" by Uncle Kracker; "I'd Come For You" by Nickelback and my new favorite is "Finally Found You" by Enrique Iglesias.

10. Three things about the preferred sex that appeal to you: Integrity, Fitness, Intelligence

11. Three of your favorite hobbies: Photography, scrapbooking, camping, working out, cooking, reading... do I really have to list only three?  Damn you number three!

13. Three of your everyday essentials: mp3 player, vanilla honey chapstick, Route 44 unsweetened peach tea from Sonic

14. Three places you want to go on vacation: Estes Park, CO; Aspen, CO (pictured below); Brekenridge, CO.  I have a thing for Colorado, you see.  If I had to pick someplace away from there, I'd like to go backpacking in K'auai, Hawaii.  Ireland, Italy, Norway, Scotland, France and even Spain.

Maroon Bells at Sunrise, Aspen, Colorado

15. Three careers you have considered/are considering: Attorney; Photographer; and of course, I'd dabble as a bordello owner/operator.

16. Three things you want to do before you die: Peak at least 14 of the 14ers in Colorado; learn to play a couple of my favorite songs on acoustic guitar; be accepted to law school.

17. Three things you want to do really badly right now: Become a genie so that I can grant my own damn wishes!  1) escape to Fredericksburg with my bestie and enjoy some quality time again!  2) Work up a good sweat so much that my entire body aches tomorrow!  I miss the gym!  3)  Have my cake and eat it too!  (that's why we must "gym", right?)

Saturday 9

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Saturday 9: Same Old Lang Syne

1) This week's song is the tale of an accidental holiday encounter between former lovers. (Hear it here.) They sit in her car and spend hours catching up, then she gives him a chaste kiss and they never see one another again. Is there a past love who still has a special spot in your heart, despite the years or the miles since your relationship?  I think any past love would have a special place in one's heart because to deny that you loved someone makes you quite a jerk.  So, yes, there are past loves that hold special places in my heart.  That doesn't mean, however, that I am still in love with them.  I just remember them fondly.

2) This week's song includes a play on the traditional Scottish song, "Auld Lang Syne." Have you ever visited Scotland?  No, but I would love to someday.  I love the way the accent.  I have a thing for accents.. plus, it's beautiful!

3) Mother Winters has long told Sam that if she has a glass of water for every glass of champagne she drinks on New Year's Eve, she'll feel better on New Year's Day. Do you have a favorite hangover prevention tip or cure?  Yes, don't drink to excess.  DUH!

4) Do you like champagne?  No.

5) This year at midnight, Crazy Sam will kiss the nose of her puppy, Chico. Will you be kissing anyone when the clock strikes 12?  Ideally, I will be asleep... so whomever is lurking in my dreams will have to kiss me.

6) The Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy was the runaway publishing phenomenon of 2012. It was so successful that the publisher, Random House, was able to give its employees massive bonuses this year. Have you read it?  I started the first book but didn't finish it.

7) Year-end is a time for newspapers, magazines and websites to run lists. According to Askmen.com, Jennifer Lawrence of The Hunger Games is the at the of the year's "Most Desirable Woman" list. People magazine has declared Channing Tatum "The Sexiest Man Alive -- 2012." Do either of these two set your pulse racing? If not, who is your celebrity crush?  No, neither do.  I actually had to look up Channing Tatum as I had never heard of him.  Who is my celebrity crush?  Hmmm.... that's tough.  I don't really have a thing for celebrities.  Coveting something you will never have is not really my thing. That being said, Leonardo DiCaprio is easy on the eyes... as is Viggo Mortenson...but only as Aragorn (Lord of the Rings) sexy Viggo.  Otherwise, I have no use for the guy. ;)

 Viggo Mortensen As Aragorn HD wallpaper for Standard 4:3 5:4 Fullscreen UXGA XGA SVGA QSXGA SXGA ; Wide 16:10 5:3 Widescreen WHXGA WQXGA WUXGA WXGA WGA ; HD 16:9 High Definition WQHD QWXGA 1080p 900p 720p QHD nHD ; Other 3:2 DVGA HVGA HQVGA devices ( Apple PowerBook G4 iPhone 4 3G 3GS iPod Touch ) ; Mobile VGA WVGA iPhone iPad PSP Phone - VGA QVGA Smartphone ( PocketPC GPS iPod Zune BlackBerry HTC Samsung LG Nokia Eten Asus ) WVGA WQVGA Smartphone ( HTC Samsung Sony Ericsson LG Vertu MIO ) HVGA Smartphone ( Apple iPhone iPod BlackBerry HTC Samsung Nokia ) Sony PSP Zune HD Zen ; Tablet 2 Android ;

8) Pasadena, California, is known for hosting the traditional Rose Parade. It begins at 8:00 AM on January 1, so the people who watch it live must be there very early. Does the thought of getting up and dressed to sit in the California sun, bright and early on New Year's morning appeal, to you?  Nope, I'd rather be up bright and early, stoking a campfire and watching a sunrise on a mountainside or a lake after a night of camping. That appeals to me.

9) Sometimes aches and pains that aren't serious can still really hurt. For example, Sam just dropped a can of tomato paste on her foot and the little red mark it left is making her crazy! Are you suffering through a bump or bruise or cut right now?  Yes, extremely dry hands from washing them a gazillion times in this bitter cold.  I need to moisturize!  this is the best remedy!

Five Question Friday

Another of my favorite memes for Fridays Five Question Friday found at fivecrookedhalos.blogspot.com.  Truth be told, I just forgot it was there!  (GASP!)  Anyway, here we go!

1)  If you had to give 1 million dollars to just one person (not your spouse), who would it be and why?  I would be interested to know the caveats to such a disbursement.  I mean, would I get to talk to this person to set up conditions.  ???  I know this sounds a little crazy, but I would likely give it anonymously to someone I didn't know.

If I gave it to my dad, my mom would be mad. I know, however, that my dad would set it up and make sure that my children were cared for (forever as in, it would be in an interest-bearing high-risk fund).

If I gave it to my son, I'm not sure he wouldn't turn into some ridiculous self-centered Nike wearing FREAK of nature.

I could easily give it to someone like Bill Gates who is already rich so wouldn't be as inclined to do something disastrously stupid like... buy a Ferrari and a huge house to which he could never afford the insurance and utilities.

So, I guess give it either to my dad, in the hopes that he would just set up my kids and then give it to charity.  Or, give to someone like Bill Gates that already has a heart for charity and giving and wouldn't be an idiot.

2)  What bathroom stall do you typically go to FIRST? I generally go to the second stall.  I never go to the first one.  I have no idea why.  Now, I feel weird and OCD.  Thanks!

3)  How do you prefer to shop: In-store or online?  Online ALL THE WAY!  I hate shopping!

4)  What's the weather like in your neck of the woods? Cold (for Texas).  Currently, it's 39 degrees.  We had snow on Christmas day.

5)  Do you own a pair of Tom's and what do you think? Overrated, underrated or about right?  Nope.  I think they're ugly.

Friday Fill-Ins

FFI
Hope you had a very Merry Christmas if you celebrate that...and a happy Boxing day to those that celebrate that! And...here we go!

1. They've certainly got their work cut out for them.  (The garbage men... for tomorrow's haul.)

2. I am going to Disney World!  Not anytime soon, but... eventually... I WILL go!  I mean, I have to!  It's Disney World and I LURVE IT!

3. What is the point of all of the wires and loops and tie-downs and twists and clamshell packaging these days?  It takes a chainsaw to open a simple toy!

4. I dislike 100% of reality tv shows.  Well, you could potentially say 99% of ALL tv shows but I do like me some Paula Deen and Ghost Hunters but honestly, I DVR them... and NEVER watch them.  It's ridiculous.

5. Eyes are truly the first feature I notice in another person.  I notice whether they're engaging... honest... hiding... shy... interested... I truly believe they are the window to the soul.

6. As a mom, I sincerely cringe whenever I hear the words "ut oh" muttered anywhere in my presence.  Generally it's followed by some type of expletive muttered beneath my breath and a huge mess I have to clean up.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to UN-Christmasing my home;   tomorrow my plans include further UN-Christmasing my home, cooking, meal planning, reading my new cookbooks and maybe getting my scrapbook room in order and Sunday, I want to relax!

'Tis the Season To Go Postal.

The fun experiences you're going to encounter on a trip to Wal-Mart prior to Christmas.

  • a couple, young 30s, arguing because she doesn't "feel good" about the selection of paper plates she made for their Christmas dinner.  She wasn't sure the "Christmas balls" were seasonal enough.

  • two young kids, 7-8ish, singing Santa Clause is Coming To Town as they do pelvic thrusts in the air to the beat.

  • Old folks using their cell phones because they have lost one another in the store.  The man was really a jerk.  I would have hung up on him.

SATURDAY 9: HAPPY HOLIDAYS

1. As you can see, Sam loved giving her annual wish list to Santa. Yet some children are reluctant to climb into Jolly Old St. Nick's lap. Did you enjoy the tradition or were you shy? Or did you by pass it altogether -- either because you wrote him a letter or because your family didn't celebrate Christmas? Honestly, as a youth, I NEVER remember going to see Santa.  Not once.  So, truthfully, I'm not sure I ever did.  I know my sister and I went once to see him when we were teenagers just for fun.  That is probably the only photo I have with Santa come to think of it.

2. Are you currently on the Naughty or Nice list? How did you get there?  Naughty.  I stay there.  I'll never tell.  He sees... that's enough peeping eyes!

3. Did you ship any gifts to friends and family this year? If so, which one traveled the farthest? Yes, I shipped a box to Kuwait for a friend serving in the military.

4. Did you buy yourself a gift this year?  Of course, my birthday is 5 days before Christmas so it's an easy excuse to indulge a little.  I bought two pair of Corral boots.  I love them!
 and these

5. What's your favorite holiday-themed movie? This is too hard!  I LIVE for the holiday movies!  I love National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.  I love LOVE Elf.  The burp scene is just fantastic.  I love Miracle on 34th Street (the old version -- none of this remake crap!)  And, what holiday would be complete without watching A Christmas Story?!  However, It's A Wonderful Life always starts out my Christmas season!

6. Thinking of movies, Christmas is lucrative for Hollywood. Have you ever gone to a movie theater on Christmas Day? Yes, as a teen we did.

7. Have you ever suffered an embarrassing moment at the company Christmas party? Nope.  I know plenty of friends that have, however.  Tsk. Tsk. Tsk.

Earl Grey Tea Black Logo Coffee Mugs
8. What's your favorite beverage in cold weather?  A cup of hot Earl Grey tea with honey.

9. What will you remember most about 2012?  ... oh the wonderful, happy thoughts that filled my head and made me smile just considering all that I should remember about 2012... But, to consider what I will remember most?  Wow... probably just the great connections I've made this year with other like-minded people.  It's always nice to share airspace with kindred spirits.
