Sunday Stealing

The 5000 Question Meme Continues... Part Six

Welcome back to Sunday Stealing which originated on WTIT: The Blog authored by Bud Weiser. Here we will steal all types of memes from every corner of the blogosphere. Our promise to you is that we will work hard to find the most interesting and intelligent memes. You may have heard of the expression, “honor amongst thieves”. In that age-old tradition, we also have our rules. First, we always credit the blog that we stole it from and we will “fess up” to the blog owner where we stole the meme. We also provide a link to the victim's post. (It's our way of saying "Thanks!") We do sometimes edit the original meme, usually to make it more relevant to our global players, to challenge our players, sometimes to select that meme's best questions, or simply to make it less repetitive from either this new meme or recently asked questions from a prior featured meme.

The 5000 question meme has been tormenting bloggers for years. I have not found anyone that has completed it. I will post a continuance of what Bud started every now and then, Maybe in 10 years or so we can get it done. :)

Today we ripped off a blogger named Leo from the blog Leonine's Journal. He was tackling a meme that his blogging site, Live Journal, hosts. It has 5,000 questions. He did a hundred. So, we will take it from there. Link back to us at Sunday Stealing!

121. Have you ever lost someone without having the chance to say goodbye?
Too many to think about... several in particular that still sting.

122. How do you feel about women in politics?
Women are backstabbing, cut-throat, opinionated, headstrong bitches.  Why SHOULDN'T they be in politics?  I mean, think about it?  They NATURALLY possess all the required characteristics.

123. Would you rather have an indoor Jacuzzi or an outdoor pool?
Outdoor pool.  I'll take this one.

124. What things are you interested in that you study or read about regularly?
This list is FAR too long.  If I find a subject that I haven't properly been educated in, I take it upon myself to read everything I can to learn more on that subject.  Educating myself is my pasttime... rather that sitting and watching mindless television.  I've researched information from historical events to quantum physics... to how to grow and store fresh herbs to micronutrients and nutrition. There is far too much to learn to waste time in front of the tv.

125. Would you consider yourself to be intelligent?
Compared to the population at large... sadly, yes.

126. Would you consider yourself to be wise?
Yes, wisdom doesn't come from age, but the ability to use reason and logic rather than emotion.

127. Have you ever given or received a lap dance?
No.  I'm not even going to dignify this with a photo on my blog.  Sorry dudes.

128. Have you ever spoken to a homeless person?
Of course....

129. Would you ever creep into the subway tunnels to go exploring?
No.

130. If you could add 70 years to your life but only by making some random person die 70 years sooner would you?
Gawd no.  Who wants to be 170 year old wrinkled wench?  NOT ME!

131. Can you identify any of the following lyrics?
A: Nothing to kill or die for... John Lennon "Imagine" and i'm not even a Beatles fan!

B: Late comings with the late comin' stretcher...  not a clue...

C: I could make a film and make you my star... sorry, coming up blank here too.

132. Are you worried about North Korea?
Yes, and if you're not, you're an idiot.  Those Korean leaders are nuckin futs!

133. Would you rather be a world political leader or a talk-show host?
World political leader... who gives a flip about talk-shows.

134. Have you ever given someone a love letter that you wrote?
Of course.

135. Have you ever sent someone a surprise though the mail?
Yes. Who doesn't love to receive a little something fun in their assortment of junkmail and bills?

136. Are you looking forward to any dates right now? Vacation perhaps?
I'm scared to look at my calendar right now.  Too much going on.

137. Of all animated movies, which is the best one you've ever seen?
This is like asking me if I like to breathe!  I can't pick a favorite.  Are you kidding me?  And, are we talking cartoon animation (Snow White, Jungle Book, Alice In Wonderland, Cinderella) or digital animation (Nemo, Incredibles, Cars)?  I love kids movies.  They're brilliant.  There is no best. They are all my favorite.

138. What are the best bands or songs to listen to while driving?
It depends with whom you are travelling as well as how far of a drive you have.  If I'm in traffic, I like to listen to music that makes me want to ram someone off the road.  Ha!

139. What do you think is the most amazing thing that anyone has ever accomplished?
Me.  Yesterday.  I allowed everyone to remain breathing.  I deserve an award or something.
140. What could a member of the opposite sex do to impress you?
Not be a douchebag.

Saturday 9

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Saturday 9: Whenever I Call You "Friend"

1) How did you meet your best friend?  Which one?  I have several that I would consider my "best" friend although I don't feel they would even feel the need to be quantified as such.

Shannon -- met when I was 4 or 5 years old in front of my mom's house when I dumped my snowcone on her.  That's 35 years of friendship right there, folks!

Tamara -- met in elementary school.  I'm not certain of the grade..but it was easily 2nd or 3rd grade.

Christie -- met in school right out of high school... age 19.

Landy -- Met through MOPS when Drew was 2.

April -- Met through MOPS when Drew was 3 or 4

There are others... some I've met through Mom's League... Scouts... mutual friends... junior high...

Friends are important.  They are the truly important ones because they're there for you when no one else is.  I've had family turn their backs on me... friends are your real family... you even get to pick them!  :)

2) Mother Winters used to say she loved all us kids equally, but at various times she liked one of us more than the others. Does your "friend ranking" ever shift? Or is the person you think of today as your best friend always #1?  There are friends I spend more time with than others but that's generally geographical... not because the want isn't there.

3) What makes you a good friend?  I'm present... in mind and body... for them

4) Think back to your childhood -- what games did you and your friends like to play?  Shannon and I would just play outside for hours.... We'd make mud pies.  We'd dance.  We'd play school and restaurant and make up these elaborate menus.  I think we'd spend more time making up menus than playing restaurant.  We'd set up an office and have fake phones.  It was SO cool.  We'd call one another with these purple or pink phones that'd light up when you called the other extension.

Some days I'd get to go with my sister next door to Kim Nash's house and she had the Charlies Angels playset.  It was SO COOL!

During the summer at night, all the kids on the street would come together for a killer game of freeze tag or hide-n-seek or swingin' statues.

5) Would you rather lose your hair, or the little toe on your left foot? (Yes, you must commit to giving one up.)  Lose the toe.  I'm vain.

6) Think of the phrase, "like nails on a blackboard." What is your least favorite sound?  Insomuch as I hate that awful noise (I just got goosebumps just THINKING of it) of a fork or knife scraping across a plate.  ---not just scraping -- but that awful sound it makes when it's an unINTENTIONAL scrape across.  I liken it to the nails on a chalkboard sound.

But more than that... WHINING.  I FREAKIN HATE LISTENING TO WHINING!!!!!!!

7) Do you add fabric softener to your wash or place a softener sheet in the dryer?  Yes.  I like my clothes Downey fresh.  Unfortunately, that leaves some nasty ass residue all over the washer.

8) Showtime, HBO, or neither?  Neither.  TV is a waste of time.

9) Have you ever fired a gun?  You betcha!  It's liberating!  I'm a deadly ass shot!  Beware -- chicks with guns... are hawt!  Mrow!

Friday Fill-Ins

FFI

And...here we go!

1. I use to have a really cool SUV.  It was a GMC Envoy.  I loved it.  I hate minivans.  I drive a minivan.  Did I mention that I hate them?  Yes, it's decked out and has every bell and whistle known to man... but I loathe bottoming out on potholes.  I hate that I can't drive over a curb if I wanted to.  I don't like the LOOK of a minivan.  I love SUVs.  I want a big, fat, gas-guzzling SUV that has gobs of room, 3 rows of seats and I can go camping to Sid Richardson without worrying about making down the roads there.

2. Open Range is one of my favorite movies.  I like Kevin Costner and Robert Duvall in this movie and I'm not a big fan of them otherwise.

3. It's time to get back on a regular routine of getting my arse up at 4:30 and getting to the gym by 5am daily.  I have to make ME a priority again.

4. I hope that time flies by this weekend!

5. I said, "Stop it Benji", and then he said, "No!" and proceeded to shove the screw right into the keyhole that turns the gas fireplace on and off.

6. Guacamole is what I'm craving right now!  I should have had some for lunch.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to Drew's baseball game and getting everything squared away for Benji's birthday party Saturday, tomorrow my plans include Benji's 3rd birthday party and two baseball games for Josh and Sunday, I want to relax but that won't happen.  We've got two MORE baseball games.  Sigh.  I'm already baseballed out and the season just started for The Rangers!

Five Question Friday

1. Would you go to your high school reunion?
I went to my ten year.  That was more than enough for me.  It seemed at the ten that people still were very clique-ish. Personally, I found that aspect alone enough to make me feel sorry for people for being so one-planed.  GROW THE EFF UP!  To not mature enough to befriend people because they weren't in your clique?  Get the EFF over yourself!

I found, too, that just because I shared air-space with people for four years, that didn't make me feel compelled to continue to do so ... especially when having to PAY to do it.

I don't know.  I just feel that I've grown and matured and have no need to continually relieve those "oooh, you remember that time we did such and such" moments.  I don't really care.

Those persons that I WANT to remain in contact with -- I am.  Sure there are a few people that I would love to catch up with....but the likelihood of them even being there is slim to none.

I didn't go to my 20.  I took my kiddo camping instead.  That was a much better use of my time.  It's valuable.  I want my boys to know that they're first.  Because... well... they are.

2. What's something that you've recently splurged on; either for yourself or someone else?
I didn't splurge but Josh's select baseball team comes with a hefty price tag.

3. How do you handle your child's fever?
Generally I just give them some fever reducing liquids (ibuprofen) and let them be on their way.  Fever isn't a bad thing... it's just a sign that the body is fighting infection of some sort... generally speaking, they're nothing.  I certainly don't freak out at a fever.  I think the only time I did was when Josh had pneumonia and it spiked up to 106.  We were speeding to the hospital.  I usually buy grape or bubble gum flavors.  Kids are so lucky.  I remember all the NASTY crap I had to take when WE were kids and ill.

4. What's the nicest thing to happen to you lately?
I went to lunch at la Madeleine and they were out of the ONLY thing I typically order.  I was stressing over looking at the menu trying to figure out ANYTHING else to order when the manager (who was working the register) said, "Try something new.  It's on me."  Geeze... now the pressure was REALLY on.  I was totally just going to order dessert (and I'd have just DIED if they were out of strawberry napoleons, too!)  I made my selection -- French Dip with a mango tea.  He rang up the order and said, "Enjoy your lunch."  He comped the ENTIRE THING!  Not only that, but when what I DID want was ready, he came to the table and offered to pack one up for me to go.  Talk about customer service!!!  They have earned my business for LIFE!  I puffy heart love la Madeleine.

5. What is your current favorite song?
"Finally Found You" by Enrique I

This kid..

This kid...

This kid is my middle son.  Drew.  I call him Drewdles.  He's my favorite 8 year old.  He's understanding... but sneaky.  Smart and clever.  He's not one to follow... definitely a leader.

Today we were discussing classes to register for at for the summer session of College For Kids at Tarrant County College.  I told him his best friend wasn't signing up for any of the classes he had and asked if he wanted to change any classes... he said, "No, I like what I have.  I can just make new friends."

I love that attitude!  Don't change what you want just to follow the crowd!  Be a leader.  Make new friends.  I've been in the same boat and made the same choices.  He made me proud today!
