Standing up for yourself...

That would be Drew... today... standing up to pee. Yes, it's a milestone we've conquered I suppose seeing that I lack the proper apparatus to adequately teach him exactly "how" this is supposed to happen but I think the near hiney dip in the toilet this morning has scared him into submission of "hey... I can stand up and pee so I should."

Yes, my friends, they're no longer little boys when they stand up to pee and tell you to "go away" when you're trying to make sure that it winds up in the commode rather than on the tile.

My days of scrubbing floors are going to be coming back I see. OH well, you can't keep them young forever... today he pees standing up... tomorrow he actually may eat a green bean

yeah, right... who am **I** kidding!

Delight in the little things....

Why I Do What I Do

I think Ambien has the effect that maryjane has on others... you have some and then suddenly feel that you can figure out what is wrong with a particular situation with great certainty. (phooey)... but in theory -- sounds good right?!

So what's wrong with me?! LOL... I've had close friends tell me that I was nuts, that I must be a mad woman, that I must never sleep, that I am obviously over-involved, that I must be a micromanager, that I must have been cloned.

====Here me now putting the record straight==== there is no cloning going on in this little Texas woman! Nu uh... unless she's gonna come back with me with the body at like... 19... man, would wouldn't kill for that bod! It was SLAMMIN! OK.. ok .. ok.. so I totally digress. :) The point of the story... I over-commit myself to activities that I feel strongly about because I feel that if someone else doesn't step up to assist, it's going to go tumbling to the ground and that will ultimately have a detrimental lasting effect, so I volunteer my humble services in the hope that whatever madness I can help keep the whatever it is afloat, that we are going to be just fine and they'll be appreciated and just make me feel warm and fuzzy. :) I guess I just need constant reaffirmation.. wow.. and I never would have thought I did. Hmmmmm.. major breakthrough right here!!!!

I want to help children.. I've wanted to help them since I was in my teens, I wanted to teach. . . that was until i learned how much they DIDN'T make and that was like a violent shove into violent of "what are you going to do" so I went into law... love it, did well, very well perhaps... but the yearning that I had to work with and on behalf of children was always there ....

I taught AWANA at church on Wednesday nights... loved it...I taught Sunday school for 3-4 years... loved that as well. i just still wanted more...I just have a calling for MORE!... so I'm considering going back to school.... to be a teacher... we shall see...

Newest Creations

I finally got the bug fixed with my scanner -- no clue what was up but it kept telling me that if -22 was flashing on the display to click troubleshooting -- but there IS no display so I was baffled. BUT, finally after jacking around with it for a while I KNEW I had to get it figured out since my design team submissions were beyond LATE! SO... without further delay... here are my latest creations (well, the ones I scanned in anyway). I'm trying to use JUST what is provided in my kits without overly embellishing them or going "over the top" which is very hard for me to just get "back to basics" with scrapping but I think it was a noble effort on my part if I do say so myself! :) Hope you enjoy.

All cardstock is Bazzil, pp is Urban Lilly, rubons are Doodle Bug, twill ribbon, foam dots.

This is my cute little pouty Drew on his 3rd birthday. You'd think he'd be excited but he was just a little bundle of pout so .. you know me... snap snap snap!

In May was Josh's Crossing Over campout with the Cub Scouts where he got to pin on his Tiger rank. Andy had Drew for the night and brought him out to the lake (Grapevine) to see Josh so I, of course, snapped some photos of them together.

This is a photo of Josh on a day we'd just gotten home from school... the snow had really started to fall (though you can't tell from the background) but it was really coming down. Josh and Drew had been outside trying to catch snowflakes on their tongues and Josh wound up with a wet head but he is so adorable, I had to capture the moment.

This is a photo of Drew from the Crossing Over campout when he was spending time at the lakeshore. He loved picking up and throwing everything into the lake that he could get his hands on. Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Happy Halloween!

Oh yes, the fun American tradition of dressing up your children so that no one will recognize them and sending them through the neighborhood begging for candy. :)

Drew had a good time tonight -- whining (mostly) because he didn't get to ring the doorbell (toward the end it was because even Batman gets tired!

There was one house that had a mummy behind one of the side windows next to the door... when the lady opened the door, he yelled, "TRICK OR TREAT" and then jsut walked into her house and asked if he could touch it. It was quite a hoot.

We also saw a house that had a strobe light... he wanted to go see the "blue thing" that went like this -- and he proceeded to stick his tongue in and out and make his hands ... do something weird -- can't even describe it with words - his arms were just flailing about -- quite a riot. :)

We piggy backed with Lisa, Austin and Renee... It was fun. Being a tad warm, their masks got hot after a while and so dragging the wagon around, it became the official tote. Austin was a Power Ranger and in the beginning, Drew wanted nothing to do with trick or treating... and everything to do with carrying Austin's power staff thing. I don't know why Drew wasn't just a power ranger but I guess Bat Man won over this year... we'll see how he fares next year.

I hope all your little spooks and goblins had a great night tonight... it's such a whippin but when they have fun running from house to house... makes it all worth it (until the dentist visits!) :) ha!

Here's a photo of Josh -- no longer in the age of "cute"... he had to go for gross. Oh well, at least he wasn't asking to be a mermaid, count my blessings -- right.

And this is my little Batman with his forced smile and fake "cheeeeeesss" (not cheese because he can't say his "s" just right yet)

Anti-Christian and Political Rhetoric

...drives me NUTSO!

I swear at least four to five times a day the past week, I've received e-mail about the new Nicole Kidman movie coming out -- The Golden Compass...

Here is a sample of one of them:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

I am pretty sure I had seen the commercial for it and was wanting to see it. I figured it looked like a good kid movie; but apparently not!

Confirmed by snopes 2007.

A movie to avoid

We need to get the word out about this movie - it is coming out in December - an atheist produced it, it is marketed for children and in the end they kill God.

Send this to everyone you know.

------------------------------------------------------------------
here is another:
A close friend sent this to me and I checked it out. Please do read this! God bless, Susan

Hello everyone. OK, this is the largest e-mail that I have ever dispersed but I thought it was extremely important. There is a Holy War going on, let’s be PRO-ACTIVE and protect our little ones minds, eyes, and ears!! I’m praying God will intervene and not allow this movie to be released, even so, may we take a vocal and active stand for our God! And may Phillip Pullman’s eyes be opened to the truth! Following is a copy of what was sent to me.

I heard there is an anti-Christian children's movie (written by an atheist, Philip Pullman of England) called The Golden Compass coming out on December 7 (just in time for Christmas). It stars Nicole Kidman, so it will be getting a lot of publicity. Philip despises C.S Lewis and Narnia, and his goal is to "kill GOD in the minds of children". An article written about him labels him "the most dangerous author in Britain!" He has written 3 books that all promote atheism, and the movie depicts his first book (which is the more watered-down of the 3). His goal is that you see the movie and then that your kids want his trilogy for Christmas…and then it REALLY gets offensive in the second 2 books!! But just to give you a tid-bit of what's in Philip's books… a ex-nun calling Christianity a convincing mistake, 2 characters representing Adam & Eve KILL God (called YAHWEH) in the end, and there's a story about castration & female circumcision! I am blown away by this! It will be targeted toward children and advertised as a fun-holiday flick. Don't fall for it! Here is the snopes article about it to back up what I've been saying… http://snopes.com/politics/religion/compass.asp

PLEASE, PLEASE tell everyone you know and love NOT TO SEE THIS MOVIE!! Imagine how our children's little minds would absorb these awful lies! Let's get the word out and fight back!!! Boycott The Golden Compass!!

Let’s never cease to pray for a lost and dying world. I am so thankful God has opened my eyes to His truth. We must pray for others-He loves them as much as me.

=======================================================

And in the end, ultimately, here is my response to everyone.... :)

I don’t know, the whole right wing holy-roller group said the same sorts of things about the Harry Potter series of movies and – to me – there is no harm in those movies whatsoever… they're movies about good vs. evil and good prevailing… with a lot of cool special effects, neat accents and awesome wardrobes as well. I used it as a talking tool with my son in the language he understands to discuss what he though it was really about… do we believe in witches and magic and sorcery? Of course not…

I would personally rather SEE the movie and use it as a teaching tool to have an open medium for communication with him about the Father and such… rather than taking someone else’s word for what it is… children don’t see things like we do… and I embrace that and use every moment to be a teaching tool rather than assuming it’s just protecting him… I would LOVE for my son to be one to question EVERYTHING so that he’s not just blindly following what I say because I say it.. I want him to WANT to know the WHYS and WHOs and WHATs of our God and to learn to seek it on his own… and if a movie is the basis for igniting another great conversation (and boy we’ve had some doozies) with him about that…??? I don’t see that as harm… I see it as an incredible teaching opportunity.

I’m not saying anything other than… I am one to challenge everything and make my own decision… and I’m proudly raising my son to do the same. I don’t think we’re doing it “right” anymore than I think someone else is doing it “wrong”… just saying that… you just never know where there may be an opportunity missed because of trying to do the “right thing” and boycotting something just because someone said so… when you haven't even found out for yourself the opportunities that could await from the experience.

And before you even ask yourself -- know this -- Yes, I’m a rebel!

Quizzes

OK, so I admit it.... I love taking quizzes. Though half the time I find myself choosing answers that are nothing like me but they're the only ones from the multiple choice that even seem reasonable (to me)... which, of course, means that the answer is skewed... but it's neat to read it and see if you're "in common" with your homies. :) (OMG did I just USE that word?)

So I found another one... Are You A Perfectionist? LOL... well, DUH, of COURSE I am...but I still took the stupid quiz. :) Here's what it said.

You Are 75% Perfectionist

You are a true perfectionist. You are both demanding of yourself and others.
While it's great to have goals and standards, they don't need to be sky high!

and then I had to do this one... to find out my inner Sesame Street personality match... :( Boy is this mean or what? ROFL

You Are Oscar the Grouch

Grumpy and grouchy, you aren't just pessimistic. You revel in your pessimism.

You are usually feeling: Unhappy. Unless it's rainy outside, and even then you know the foul weather won't last.

You are famous for: Being mean yet loveable. And you hate the loveable part.

How you life your life: As a slob. But it's not repelling as many people as you'd like!

And gee... whoda thunk this one? ROFL... I hadn't been called a Bit#% for nothing! Ha!
You're Totally Sarcastic

You sarcastic? Never! You're as sweet as a baby bunny.
Seriously, though, you have a sharp tongue - and you aren't afraid to use it.
And if people are too wimpy to deal with your attitutde, then too bad. So sad.
