Veterans day came and went....

and I didn't really say a thing -- shame on me.

We have paid $30 a year to the Lion's club for them to come post a beautiful red, white and blue flag to fly at our house proudly on all major holidays. It's a symbol of freedom that we should display every day but it seems like when it's an every day thing, it becomes commonplace, but to preserve it for those days when we really SHOULD not take things for granted... it's more poignant.

It is the VETERAN, not the preacher, who has given us freedom of religion.

It is the VETERAN, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the VETERAN, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the VETERAN, not the campus organizer, who has given us freedom to assemble.

It is the VETERAN, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the VETERAN, not the politician, who has given us the right to vote.

It is the VETERAN, who salutes the Flag,

It is the VETERAN, who serves under the Flag,

ETERNAL REST GRANT THEM O LORD, AND LET PERPETUAL LIGHT SHINE UPON THEM.

I have THIS link that was sent to me ... a beautiful tribute to our veterans. I hope you take the time to view it and to share it with those you know and love.
