Couponing Envy

I'm watching several blogs loyally and admit that I have coupon envy. These are moms that go to the grocery store with coupons in hand and buy $145-170 worth of groceries for $30-$60. I'm in awe of how they do this. They post their photos and their savings. Then I start looking at a lot of the products and it's lots of processed, pre-packaged foods (you know, the kind that I'm trying to avoid while cooking healthy foods and snacks for my family). So, while I need to learn to just GET OVER my coupon envy and realize that I'm doing the best I can do for my family... while eating much more healthy foods so while we may pay more at the check out stand -- I need to learn to feel confident in the choices I'm making.

I'm getting there. This is a post I may have to come back and read. Reread. And then reread AGAIN just to get it through my thick skull whenever I see these awesome posts of coupon savings.

I was just reading your About Me section and wanted to say hey from one 80s hair band girl to another! Those were the days, eh? And I love Ghost Adventures and Ghost Hunters too! Sorry, just felt the need to share that. LOL.

I wish I had the patience to cut coupons. I find though that Pathmark I save A LOT just by having that card they scan.

Hey there! So good to hear from you again...and congrats! Totally with ya on the healthy eating/coupon thing. I'm a Costco girl. I've found lots of cheap healthy alternatives there. I keep whole almonds, fresh fruit, and cherry tomatoes on my counter, and the kiddos snack on those.

Glad you found me again!

I cannot coupon...I Just do not have the time to spend. BUT I read on my friend Sam's blog about kinda the same thing. She was a coupon freak, but now just cannot justify it with all the processed food it brought into her home. On the positive side, she did say she learned to use and still uses coupons to stockpile the toiletries, baking essentials, and dried goods like pasta. The rest they get from a food co-op and grow themselves. She even found coupons for the all-natural alternatives of some of their cleaning products.

I'm with you, April. I was a faithful coupon clipper, but I found I rarely found coupons for the food I really wanted to buy. I mean, you don't find coupons for apples and asparagus. I mainly "shop the perimeter" of the grocery store and there are not a lot of coupons for those areas. I do use them for cleaning products and toiletries, though.
