Wednesday Wickedness with Judy Garland

Hi and welcome to Wednesday Wickedness! Today we picked Judy Garland. Here's Wednesday Wickedness!

1. "Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of somebody else." Have you ever realized that you were trying to be like someone else?
Of course. At some age, all children emulate those they admire. The key is to grow out of being a carbon copy and to become an original. Some people do.... others are just stuck following trends and others.

2. "Behind every cloud is another cloud."
Are you more optimistic or pessimistic about things?
I like to think of myself as an optimistic pessimist. I expect the worst but hope for the best. Either way, I'm not surprised.

3. "How strange when an illusion dies. It's as though you've lost a child."
Tell us about a time when you realized your perception of reality was an illusion.
When I realized that my in-laws marriage was over... for a second it really took me aback because I felt like if THESE two people who (seem to) have everything going for them can't make it... WHO CAN?!

4. "I've never looked through a keyhole without finding someone was looking back."
Have you ever felt someone was watching you a bit too closely?
Yes... and I divorced him.

5. "If you have to be in a soap opera try not to get the worst role."
Have you ever had a job that you were embarrassed by?
No. I can honestly say that I haven't done anything for which I should be ashamed. I started out in food service at Colter's BBQ. It wasn't the most amazing job but it was an honest one... I've worked at a record store, grocery store, accountant's office, attorney's offices.... nothing for which I'd ever be embarrassed or ashamed.

6. 'In the silence of night I have often wished for just a few words of love from one man, rather than the applause of thousands of people."
Do you feel that you need a lover to make you feel “whole”?
Absolutely not. My self esteem is way higher than the need to feel validated by another.

7. "If I am a legend, then why am I so lonely?"
Tell us about a time when you felt lonely.
I'm never lonely... I'm surrounded by all my invisible friends. :) They keep me company all day long.

8. "I can live without money, but I cannot live without love."
Would you rather be rich and alone or live with love from a lover?
Anyone who said that money can't buy love, never had a puppy. If you were rich, you wouldn't have to be alone for long! HA!

9. "I try to bring the audience's own drama - tears and laughter they know about - to them."
Tell us about the last movie that you saw where you could feel the drama as though you were living it.
Generally speaking, I can't sit still long enough to watch a movie, let alone be sucked into it.

10. "I was born at the age of twelve on an MGM lot."
What was your life like at 12?
Normal -- whatever THAT means. :)
